Precautions for COVID-19

According to the Austrian government the visit of the abbey is allowed as long as given strict rules & regulations are followed. For the health of our guests and employees all necessary procedures are implemented and include disinfectant dispensers at entrances, cashless payment in the Museum Shop and continuous disinfection of surfaces. There is a general mask obligation indoors. Keep your distance from people who do not live in the same household. Pre-booking is recommended, an online booking system is available for this purpose.

Getting here

by car

From Vienna: Take the A1 motorway until the St. Pölten junction, then follow the S33 towards Krems or S5 to the Jettsdorf/Krems junction. From Krems follow the B3 towards Dürnstein.

From Linz/Salzburg: Take the A1 motorway until the Melk junction, then continue on the B3 towards Dürnstein/Krems.

parking in Dürnstein

Parking is not permitted anywhere in the old town of Dürnstein. Outside the town centre, four pay-and-display car parks are available for visitors. The walking time from the car parks to the Abbey is 7 to 10 minutes.
P 1 – east of Dürnstein by the Kuenringerbad, busses and cars
P 2 – east of the road tunnel, cars only
P 3 – west of the road tunnel, cars only
P 6 – railway station, cars only

by bus / train

From April to October excursion boats sail daily between Krems and Melk operated by the DDSG Blue Danube Schiffahrt GmbH. Pier No. 20 in Dürnstein is located directly below the blue Abbey church tower. Details at: www.ddsg-blue-danube.at
